Robert and Dayna Baer: The CIA and the Middle East

Over the past few weeks I have been reading (listening to

– Audible) a few books written by Robert Baer and one by him and his wife, Dayna Baer.  The Company We Keep.

The books are about work as CIA employees.

I think the Perfect Kill is the best of the four I have read thus far. It tells much about how the CIA works and what Baer was doing in Lebanon. The book is of more interest because it tells of a “back story” which has connection to the recent New York Times article concerning the assassination of Rajj Radwan (AKA Imad Mughniyah).  There is more about Mughniyah in the NYT this past week or two — The book is also a bit humorous from time to time.

The next book I liked most is The Devil We Know: Dealing with the New Iranian Superpower.

This book is relevant to an understanding of Iran and thus an understanding of the stakes in the current negotiations between Jon Kerry and Mohammad Javad Zarif.  (Zarif is a graduate of the University of Denver Korbel School of International Studies. Professor Korbel is the father of Madeleine Albright.)
